Alice was the daughter of Bishop Ogle of England.
Alice was sent to France as part of her education. She spoke fluent
French.

It appears that Robert travelled north with his brothers Conrad and
Leonard in 1896, as in that year he was working as a labourer near
Masterton. He lived in Templar St, Christchurch from 1902-6 and was a
Photographer. He then worked on farms around Kaipara Harbour from
1908-12. From 1916 onwards, he was a sheep farmer at Wallingford, near
Waipukurau, with Conrad. Robert died of a stroke in Waipukurau
Hospital in 1930.

Individual Note: BIOGRAPHY
Henry was a Poet & Photographer and worked as a Carriage Builder and
Wheelwright from 1893 in Geraldine & Orari. Initially Mary & Henry
lived in Orari, near Geraldine, and then Ashburton from 1899-1901 and
finally at Christchurch. There they lived at Templar St, Avonside from
1901-26. They then moved to 71 Hills Rd, until 1938. Mary then lived
at 2 Gossett St, St Albans with her partner, Percy Neale. Herbert
retired to a cottage at Brooklands, near the Waimakariri River mouth,
just north of Christchurch. Mary had a holiday house nearby at
Stewart's Gully.

Mary Payne came from Orari, near Geraldine. Her parents also had a
farm on the Waihi River. Mary seperated from Henry, and later lived at
Stewart's Gully. She was refered to as "Polly".

Leonard was a twin.Leonard became a Blacksmith & Wheelwright at
Inglewood from 1904 - 20. He then farmed at Ratapiko & Opunake, near
New Plymouth. He was a very keen brass band player.

Charles Edward Heatley died in a cycling accident on Beaumont Hill
near Lawrence. He was a Commercial Traveller.

Following Hirani's death, Conrad inherited large tracts of Maori land
in Waipukurau, Hawkes Bay.This land was left to his younger sister
Lena and was inherited by her two children. Lena & Alice Snr. had
nursed Hirani before her death. During his time with Hirani, Conrad
lived in Ponsonby Rd, Aukland until 1909 and in Hastings until 1911.
In his early days, Conrad worked as a Coachsmith. In 1912, he married
Ethel (Billie) Williams. The same year he started sheep farming at
Wallingford & Waipukurau in the Wairarapa, until the mid 1920's.
It appears that he also owned property in Templar St, Christchurch
from the early 1900's and was listed as an "Agent" there. He was also
listed as a farmer in Phillipstown, Christchurch from 1926 onwards.
In 1930 he bought a farm near Taihape, 26,000 acres called "Black
Hill" at Moawhango. This was sold by Public Trust following his death.
Conrad moved to Auckland around 1950 with Billie, who died in 1951.
He married Helen Stevenson from Auckland in 1952. Conrad died the
following year. Helen was left the Auckland house and the life
interest of Conrada Estate. Helen survived him by about 40 years.
Conrad had no children.

Owen died at the age of 12 years in Timaru following a fall from a
loaded dray. He is buried in Geraldine Cemetary.

Alice's husband, Gus McLaren was much older than her.
She and Gus worked for Conrad on his sheep farm at Waipukurau.
They later bought a small Orchard at Havelock North.
During the Depression, they had to leave the Orchard and move to
Wanganui where they lived in Alice's mothers house, then Alice Gee.
Alice also lived with her daughter Nancy and Family for many years.
